Since my last post I have visited the TASC center a couple more times. I have come to enjoy the participants that they have there, as well as the teachers, to whom I have built relations with. I was able to participate in helping them set up and take part in their spring fling. When I first was told about the event, I was kind of nervous; I didn't know how many people would come. I thought it would be somewhat boring, but boy was I in for a SURPRISE!
I got there at 5:00 to help set up, in full force with balloons and decor for them to use. When I got there, they had already set up a photo booth station, with mustaches and classes to make funny face with. After we finished setting up, or should I say by the time we finished setting up, there were tons of people there! I helped in passing out the food, which was a slice of pizza or a hot dog, along with meatballs, and then a cookie for desert. After everyone had food, we got up, in the auditorium type room, and we had a huge dance party. It was amazing to see just how much fun everyone was, and I actually got to connect with them, which changed my view of the whole program.
It was a great night, and I feel like it changed my view of the program as a whole. I feel as if it isnt just about it being a day "care" type place, but rather a community that I can now be a part of.
